It’s an impressive difference

Realising you’re out of petrol and having to cross your fingers and hope the prices that day just so happen to be reasonable can be a real pain.

Sometimes you end up eating your fuel just driving around to find the cheapest place to fill up. That’s why it’s a big draw for plenty of people to get an electric car, in the hope the vehicle switch will save them some cash.

And as the curiosity around investing in Teslas starts to grow for drivers, one bloke who whips around in a Cybertruck shared the mind-blowing amount that six months of electric has cost him.

Bilal Sattar has been able to save a hefty amount thanks to the Elon Musk invention.

Taking to X, he shared the costs for six months back in January 2024, having covered roughly 10,000 miles on the roads.

He says he spent a total of just $573.55 (£452.26) on refuelling the whopper of an electric car. Sattar explained that an ‘equivalent gas car’ running at $4/gallon would have cost a huge $2,392 (£1,886) in comparison.

So, the Cybertruck driver made a saving of a massive $1,800 (£1.419).

Sattar shared this info with a screenshot of a chart which comes straight from the Tesla app, as its drivers are able to have a constant little reminder of the savings they’ve made by switching to electric.

However, it’s fair to say this bloke’s pretty savvy with the money-saving though as even a die-hard electric vehicle driver will admit he’s done well to keep things so low.

From what he posts on social media, it’s clear Sattar is very particular with where he drives and often picks out stopping points which home free chargers – quite the rare find.

Plus, it appears he uses solar charging to help with keeping down his own energy usage down. So, when he charges up at home, it’s probably costing him less than most.

Either way, it seems the switch to electric vehicles has proved cost-effective for most, with one couple seeing a cut to their spending by sticking to Teslas.

“If you are looking at purchasing a Tesla and you are worried about how much your bill is going to increase, I don’t think that’s something you need to take into account,” one of the drivers said on YouTube.

Tesla previously had to recall 240,000 vehicles due to a camera issue that could cause serious accidents. The models recalled were the 2024-2025 Tesla Model 3 and the 2024-2025 Tesla Model 3, while Tesla also wants back the Model X and Model Y from 2023-2025.
