In a bid to combat rising energy bills, countless people are resorting to using their household appliances less often.

This can mean that laundry piles up, never quite drying – particularly if we’re avoiding the tumble dryer more than usual. However, one savvy mum claims she’s found the answer to making your tumble dryer work more efficiently, ensuring clothes dry quicker without racking up extra costs.

Carolina McCauley, an Aussie influencer, took to Instagram with a tip-top hack that could revolutionise your laundry routine. Her advice? Chuck in a clean, dry towel when you kick-start the tumble dryer cycle; it’ll absorb excess moisture from other garments.

Then, whip the towel out after 15 minutes so the dryer doesn’t strain itself trying to get the towel dry too. The helpful mum explained in her video on her @carolina. mccauley handle: “How to speed up laundry drying time. If you add a clean, dry towel at the beginning of your drying cycle and then start the dryer, the towel helps to absorb moisture.”

And added: “Remove the towel after 15 minutes, [and] this cuts drying time by 30 per cent.” She even captioned her post saying: “If you’re tired of waiting for clothes to dry, try this super fast drying hack!” The internet is buzzing with gratitude, tonnes of users chiming in on how much the nifty trick has slashed their drying time – and their bills.
