“I Was Told to Go Home,” a Woman Is Disappointed She Wasn’t Allowed to Board the Flight in a Bikini

A 21-year-old woman had an issue when she tried to get on her flight wearing a bikini. The staff at the airport didn’t allow her to board the plane, but she still felt it wasn’t fair. Many people are discussing this situation online and sharing their thoughts about it.

Brazilian model and cosplayer Kine-chan dressed up as the character Rebecca from the anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners (2022). Her costume included a black bikini, a blue wig, and black sandals. She planned to attend an event and went to Navegantes Airport in Brazil to catch her flight. However, she recounted her experience of being barred from boarding her flight because the airport staff deemed her attire “inappropriate.”

Kine-chan took to Instagram to recount the incident, providing insight into her choice of clothing. In her post, she described the situation as “very annoying.” She explained that she attempted to board a flight at Navegantes Airport while wearing a Rebecca Cosplay outfit for an event. “I already knew that I could be late, so I was dressed so as not to waste time and could go straight to my room. But I was told to go home and change clothes because the one I was wearing was not ’appropriate,’” she wrote.

The reaction of her followers was very diverse. Some people think the model may have pushed the boundaries with her outfit choice. For instance, one user wrote, “Kine, I love you, but you could have put on an easy pull-up outfit, like a falling dress or even a button-down blouse.”

Of course, some stood in solidarity with Kine-chan. As one supporter expressed, “It’s truly disappointing to find out the airport barred you, a talented artist, because of cosplay as incredible as Rebecca’s. Freedom of speech and creativity should always be encouraged and respected.”

Dressing in a bikini for an airport visit may appear somewhat unconventional, but there have been other controversial episodes related to clothing. One of those cases involves model Isabelle Eleanore, who nearly faced a flight ban when a staff member incorrectly identified her top as a bikini. She addressed the situation on her Instagram page: “There is a belief that one should be able to dictate what is acceptable for people to wear and do, especially for women.”
Airports are like treasure troves of fascinating stories from folks strolling onto airplanes in their swimsuits to travelers who seem like entirely different people from the snapshots in their passports.
