Donna Marie Elkins, 59, allegedly held a 13-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy up at gunpoint

A Florida woman was arrested after she allegedly held two teenagers up at gunpoint in Melbourne, Fla., on Friday, March 28, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE.

Donna Marie Elkins, 59, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault without intent to kill and two counts of false imprisonment, according to arrest documents obtained by PEOPLE.

Authorities responded to Elkins’ call on Friday at 9 p.m., reporting a disturbance on her property. She alleged that a 13-year-old and a 15-year-old were fishing on her property. She told the dispatcher that she had “petrified them” and she had “stopped them and they were laying on the ground,” according to the arrest affidavit.

Upon the authorities’ arrival, Elkins told the officers she walked into her backyard with a pellet gun, trying to “scare” the boys. She also allegedly pointed the gun at the boys and said she would “blow their heads off,” the affidavit says.

The teens were ordered not to move. They did not get off the ground for five minutes until Elkins’ husband exited the home and disarmed her. Later, the pair told the deputies that they feared for their lives.

Two juvenile witnesses told authorities that Elkins shouted and pointed the gun at the victims. One witness said the two boys walked into the backyard to fish and saw a bird that was in the pond. Then Elkins came outside with the gun, according to the witness, who added that they “observed the victims lay on the ground and the defendant continued to yell at them,” per the affidavit.

Authorities also determined upon arrival that the pond was approximately 30 feet away from Elkins’ property line.

Elkins was arrested and booked into the Brevard County jail. She was released on Saturday, March 29, on $25,000 bond.

Her arraignment has been scheduled for Tuesday, April 22 at 8 a.m., at the Moore Justice Center in Melbourne, Fla.

A representative for the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for more information on Tuesday.
