Kemi Badenoch, leader of the Conservative Party, clarified her leadership style, emphasizing that it’s not solely about giving praise. During a BBC interview, she elaborated on her approach.

In her initial major policy move as Tory leader, Badenoch declared that migrants in the UK on work visas who have received benefits will not be allowed to stay indefinitely.

She suggests increasing the waiting period for migrants to apply for permanent residency, which is a step towards British citizenship, from five years to ten years.

Her plan also stipulates that migrants with criminal records or those who have claimed benefits or used social housing will be denied permanent residency in the UK.

Speaking in the latest episode of The Free Press, she said: “If you don’t defend your culture, it will disappear. When people come to your country, they should want to be a part of that country. We are not a hotel or a dormitory for people who just want to make money and leave.

This is our home, and we need to look after it. That means ensuring that people who come to the country are compatible with those beliefs.

I believe this involves two things: first, encouraging more migration from places that share similar values; and second, ensuring that those who do come to the country understand the terms they accepted when moving to the UK. It’s not about bringing the culture of the other place and turning into the place that you just come from.

If I wanted to live in Nigeria, I would have moved back to Nigeria. I don’t want to recreate Nigeria in the UK.”
