Drummer Jamie Morrison was rushed to hospital minutes before he was due on stage.

The Stereophonics star, who also drums for 86TVs, was due to perform at Rescue Rooms in Nottingham on Monday night. 86TVs issued a statement to their fans as they said: “We had quite a dramatic day yesterday when, minutes before doors opened in Nottingham, Jamie was rushed into hospital. He is still in there and has been strongly advised by doctors to not attempt to do the shows this week.

“We are all heartbroken about this – the shows on this run really have been our best ever – but obviously health comes first. Please send your love and get wells to one of the best to ever do it.” They added: “Huge apologies to anyone who has made plans for these shows, especially with long distance travel. We know there are a number of you that have had plans around this for a long time and were planning on sending off this record with us this week.”

The band were nearing the end of their 2024 tour and had remaining dates scheduled for Manchester, Bristol, London, Cambridge and Leeds. Their tour was due to end on December 1, having started on November 15 in Germany. Jamie, 41, has been playing with 86TVs along with members of The Maccabees’ Hugo and Felix White and their brother Will.

Fans rushed to send their messages to Jamie as one said: “Get well soon Jamie x.” Another added: “Oh no. Sending best wishes to Jamie for a speedy recovery and love to you all.” Someone else commented: “Oh my gosh! Terrible news – hope you get well soon.” A fourth wrote: “Get well soon Jamie health comes first!”

Throughout his career, Jamie has played with Noisettes and Drewford Alabama. He has also released music through his label Ninjas & Wolves under the name Pop Morrison. Jamie joined Stereophonics in 2012 following his departure from Noisettes. In 2022, he joined 86TVs and the band signed to Parlophone Records last year.

Jamie is set to tour with Stereophonics again next year as they announced a huge UK and Ireland summer tour. The Stadium Anthems tour will kick off in June and run into July, with eight dates available, including an appearance at Isle of Wight Festival. It marks Stereophonics’ first live dates in three years.

The band will play in Huddersfield’s John Smith’s Stadium, Dublin St. Anne’s Park, Cork Virgin Media Park, London Finsbury Park, Glasgow Bellahouston Park (as part of Summer Sessions). Finally, the run will conclude with a hometown show in Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.

Stereophonics will also release a new album next year and are set to play their huge hits including Dakota, Have A Nice Day, Maybe Tomorrow, C’est La Vie and A Thousand Trees. Frontman Kelly Jones said: “Being on the road again with my best friends, playing all the hits of this band’s catalogue for people in huge outdoor gatherings through the summer of 2025 makes me so excited. We should make a new album…oh wait …we already did that! See ya there for more good times…. TUNE!!! TUNE!!! TUNE!!”

The band is made up of Kelly Jones on vocals and lead guitar, Richard Jones on bass, Adam Zindani on guitar, Jamie on drums and Tony Kirkham as their touring keyboard player. The group previously included Stuart Cable and then Javier Weyler on drums before Jamie joined the band. Stereophonics have released twelve studio albums, including eight UK number one albums.

In 2021, Stereophonics decided to cancel their Christmas shows after being accused of “superspreading” coronavirus. The Welsh rockers allowed their concert to go ahead in Cardiff in March 2020 at the start of the pandemic, which lead to widespread criticism. They were scheduled to perform at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on December 17th and 18th in 2021, which included a set from music legend Sir Tom Jones, but decided to scrap the shows.
