Nicole Kidman is reportedly desperate to fix her relationship with her two eldest children following the sad death of her beloved mother Janelle in September.

The Australian-born actress, 57, is said to have been left devastated due to the fact her late mother never had the opportunity to reconnect her relationship with her grandchildren, who Nicole adopted with her ex-husband, Tom Cruise.

Isabella and Connor Cruise were adopted by Tom and Nicole in 1992 and 1995 respectively – and the Hollywood power couple got joint custody when they divorced in 2001. However, the kids decided to stay in LA with their dad when their mum moved back to Australia.

Tom then raised Bella and Connor in the Church of Scientology and they have both become high-ranking members of the controversial faith.

Due to Nicole’s alleged excommunication status as an “SP” [Suppressive Person], the kids have kept their distance from their mother, meaning their relationship broke down after the kids turned their back on Nicole.

After the death of her beloved mother, Nicole is now reportedly desperate to get back in contact with Isabella and Connor after many years of no communication.

Speaking to New Idea Magazine, a source close to Nicole said: “Losing her mum has made Nicole not want to waste any more time. It hurt Janelle that she and husband Antony were estranged from Isabella and Connor.”

“They were their first two grandchildren and were once very close. It was a deep regret that they were unable to see her in person before she died,” they added. The source concluded by saying that the regret was ‘fuelling her need for a proper reconciliation.’

While Nicole does not have a strong relationship with her two eldest children Isabella and Connor, she is a proud mum to her two other daughters Sunday, 16, and Faith, 13, who she shares with her husband, Keith Urban.

Nicole faced much heartache earlier this year when her mother Janelle died in September. Janelle passed away just hours before Nicole was awarded Best Actress for her role in Babygirl on the final day of Venice Film Festival. At the time, Nicole released a statement which was read out on stage by Babygirl director Halina Reijn.

In the statement, Nicole said: “Today I arrived in Venice to find out shortly after, that my beautiful, brave mother has just passed. I am in shock and I have to go to my family, but this award is for her, she shaped me, guided and made me.

“I am beyond grateful I get to say her name to all of you through Halina, the collision of life and art is heartbreaking, and my heart is broken. We love you all.”
