If you are among those who often eat late at night, you may want to read this article in its entirety because of the topics we’ll cover. Relax, soak up the knowledge, and enjoy the reading experience.

How much late is actually late?
Late is usually within 3 hours of you going to sleep. So, if you work throughout the day and usually sleep from 12am-8am your “late” would be 9pm-12am. At the end of the day, your body is going to metabolize whatever you put into it, and if you aren’t active enough to use up the energy you absorb from it, then it will be stored as fat which would eventually result in bad health.

According to recent medical studies, eating between the hours of 12pm-11pm resulted in higher levels of blood glucose, insulin and cholesterol, than eating between the hours of 8am-7pm. So, you aim to reduce your body fat or your cholesterol, it may be beneficial to try curbing your late night eating habits.

What are the effects of eating late?

1. It might lead to weight gain

If you’re the type that avoids gaining weight at all costs, you shouldn’t even consider eating late at night for fear of gaining more weight than you bargained for.

2. Acid reflux

Acid reflux is another problem with late-night eating. If you eat late at night, your body may have trouble digesting the food and you may wake up with chest pain. If you eat too close to bedtime, you may experience insomnia or severe discomfort all night long.

3. Eating late at night is associated with a rise in blood suga

According to the results of numerous studies conducted in the field of medicine, eating late at night can have a dramatic impact on one’s blood sugar level. If you have diabetes, the last thing you should be thinking about doing is eating late at night because doing so can cause your blood sugar levels to spike and make your current health problems much worse. Even if you haven’t been diagnosed with diabetes, eating late at night might have an influence on your blood sugar levels.

Even if you’re not hungry, eating late at night provides your body with fuel and energy to keep going, which may affect how well you sleep.
The youth of today stays up late every night. In order for your body to properly digest the food you ate before bed, you may be forced to stay up late. This is not good for your health and may cause you to sleep late. Hence, eating late has an adverse effect on both the quantity and quality of sleep.
