Have you ever realized that life can be super hectic, with so many things happening, that you might overlook stuff happening right in front of you?
Don’t stress if you do. You’re definitely not alone in this. Honestly, I’m the kind of person who can spend ages searching for my phone while I’m actually holding it in my hand.
Most of us can agree that in today’s world, it’s tough to stay fully focused on what’s happening right now. Plus, sometimes it feels like things just disappear from our minds only to pop back up hours later.
This happened to me not long ago after a flight, and it led me down a path of discovering all sorts of information I didn’t even know I was curious about
It all kicked off when I got to my brother’s place after the flight, and he asked me where I had sat on the plane. It seemed like a simple question, but it turned into a mini investigation that took almost an hour.
To sum it up, after I mentioned that my seat was near the wings, he told me I must have been sitting under a black or red triangle sticker that was right above my window.
I told him that I hadn’t. There’s simply no way I would have missed a sticker above my window. Not to mention the fact that I’d never seen such a sticker before – and I fly a lot.
I thought he was just joking around, but after looking it up online, I found out he was actually right. There are indeed black or red triangular stickers inside airplanes – there are four of them! Since I took the time to figure out what they mean, I might as well share what I learned.
Helpful
The triangles might look unimportant to people on the plane (if you even notice them), but they are actually really useful for flight attendants and pilots. These markers are lined up with the airplane’s wings; one triangle shows the front of the wing, and the other shows the back.
As per Travel + Leisure, when the wings need to be inspected, pilots and flight attendants use the aforementioned triangles as guides to locate the exact position. This is especially helpful when checking the wing’s moving parts, including the flaps and slats, for problems such as ice buildup.
Good to know
The stickers can really help passengers, especially those who get motion sickness. Since the wings are where the plane’s balance is, sitting near them is like being in the middle of a seesaw, so you feel less movement.
So, if you pick a seat close to one of the stickers, it can make your flight a lot smoother and less bumpy.
