Viewers of the popular game show Beast Games have voiced their frustrations after learning how much the winner will actually be pocketing.

If you haven’t heard of Beast Games by now, you might just be living under a rock. (SPOILER ALERT – this article will discuss who won the series.)

The brainchild of YouTube megastar MrBeast (real name Jimmy Donaldson), the game show has officially gone down in history as the most expensive reality competition ever.

Inspired by Netflix’s Squid Game, the show saw 1,000 contestants battle through grueling physical and mental challenges for the ultimate cash prize — originally $5,000,000 but then doubled to a staggering $10 million.

And with its debut on Amazon Prime in December, it smashed records for the biggest-ever prize pool in reality TV.

But while Jeffrey Randall Allen, aka Player 831, walked away victorious, how much of that jaw-dropping $10 million is he actually keeping?

The $10M Moment—And The Brutal Tax Reality

The finale came down to six competitors before narrowing to just Allen and Twana Barnett. The final challenge? Allen had to correctly guess which of 10 briefcases contained the $10 million check — hidden by Barnett.

And he nailed it.

Allen walked away with the grand prize, but as with all game show winnings, Uncle Sam came knocking. A report by Watcher.Guru revealed just how much tax is eating into his fortune:

-Gross Winnings: $10,000,000
-Federal Tax (37%): ≈ $3,700,000
-California State Tax (13.3%): ≈ $1,330,000
-Total Tax Deduction: ≈ $4,970,000
-Final Take-Home Amount: ≈ $5,030,000

In the US, game show prizes are treated like salaried income, meaning Allen’s winnings are taxed the same way as if he had earned them through work.

And social media users were not happy.

MrBeast himself found it hilarious that people were lamenting Allen’s tax bill, tweeting a sarcastic: “Only.”

However, fans weren’t as sympathetic, with one person writing: “Yeah, only. You have 10 million and they only got half. So it’s only relative to the stated amount. This is about how bad taxes are, not you.”

“That’s still a HEFTY slice off the top,” another added, “Even if there’s 5 mill left”.

A third quipped: “Congrats to the IRS for winning beast games”.

“Amazing. So technically IRS is also competing silently,” another added.

And one angered viewer wrote: “Still that’s trash, why does the government get that much in tax? All they’re doing is blowing it anyway.”

(And honestly? Yes, $5 million is still a life-changing amount of money… but can you imagine giving somebody $10 MILLION, and the tax man just takes half? I’d lose sleep.)

The Beast Games Top Earners—Who Else Cashed In?

Allen wasn’t the only one scoring big from Beast Games. The show wasn’t just about the grand prize—MrBeast handed out over $25 million in winnings, including cars, cash, and even an island.

Here’s a breakdown of the top five earners:

-Jeffrey Randall Allen (Player 831) – $10,004,242
-Mia Speight (Player 952) – $1.8 million (in the form of a private island)
-Gage Gallagher (Player 974) – $1 million
-JC Gallego Iori (Player 566) – $650,000
-Esteban Zepeda (Player 457) – $450,000

Even though Allen hasn’t publicly reacted to his big win yet, he previously stated that if he won, he planned to use the money to raise awareness for his son’s Creatine Transporter Deficiency (CTD).

Whether you’re a fan of MrBeast or not, one thing’s for sure — Beast Games has completely changed the landscape of reality competition shows. And with MrBeast’s history of going bigger every time, who knows what kind of jaw-dropping cash prize he’ll come up with next… and how can I apply?
