Former Saturday Night Live star Cecily Strong is officially a mom at age 41.
“Me and my girls,” Strong captioned an Instagram pic of herself lying next to her newborn daughter on Thursday, April 10, confirming she welcomed her first baby with her fiancé, Jack. “It’s been a week and a day with my beautiful squirmy baby girl. I recognize all her little squirms and kicks from when she was on the other side of me and now I get to say ‘see what I was talking about!’”
Strong’s daughter has seemingly inherited her funny bone. “She makes Robert De Niro faces and snorts when she is super determined on the boob. She’s gonna be stronger than me in about a week. Her squeaks and sighs are my favorite noises on earth,” the actress wrote. “Born with a full head of dark hair which made me scream ‘whoo hoo!’ while pushing. And I’ve been screaming Whoo hoo every day since because she’s absolutely perfect and I won the lottery.”
Strong went on to thank the medical team who helped her through her “relatively easy birth,” which she credited to receiving a “glorious epidural.” She quipped, “I forgot I’d still have to recover afterward from what feels like was the Muay Thai fighter from White Lotus kicking the crap out of my cooch.”
The Schmigadoon! alum noted that she’s “so in love and so tired” after welcoming her little one, gushing that her fiancé is “the best dad I could ever have imagined” and the “best partner I could have imagined.”
She concluded her baby announcement on a funny note, writing, “Sorry for the run on sentences- I’ve called the pediatrician ‘the vet’ almost 35 times. I love you ESM ❤️❤️❤️.”
Several past and present SNL stars shared their well-wishes in the comments section. “Awww this is wonderful!!! Sending you so much love and sleep ❤️,” Ana Gasteyer wrote, while Kenan Thompson added several red heart emojis.
Amy Schumer shared her excitement over Strong’s baby news, commenting, “You did it!” Andy Cohen, for his part, excitedly wrote in all caps, “CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!”
In 2020, Strong revealed she was dating a man named Jack (whose last name has not been publicly shared) after meeting him at a Christmas party the year prior. During a March 2024 appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers, Strong shared that she got engaged in December 2023.
Strong announced her pregnancy via Instagram in November 2024 with pics of her baby bump. “A couple years ago I did a piece on SNL as Goober the Clown who had an abortion the day before her 23rd birthday,” she captioned the snaps. “I’m happy to report that same clown is now very happily pregnant from IVF at 40.”
She flashed her baby bump on the SNL 50th anniversary special red carpet back in February, as well as during the show. In one of the special’s sketches, her famous “Weekend Update” character The Girl You Wish You Hadn’t Started a Conversation With at a Party revealed she was pregnant and having a baby with Bobby Moynihan’s Drunk Uncle.
