“We’re just soaking in every moment,” the actress tells PEOPLE of her engagement to the Buffalo Bills quarterback

Hailee Steinfeld is sharing a rare glimpse into her life with fiancé Josh Allen.

While speaking with PEOPLE for Nexxus’ new “Get Hy” campaign, the actress, 28, says that since getting engaged to the Buffalo Bills quarterback, also 28, in November, it’s been “such a special time for so many reasons.”

“I couldn’t be more excited,” she says. “I’m so happy — we’re so happy — and we’re just soaking in every moment.”

Steinfeld and Allen announced their engagement with a joint post on Instagram on Nov. 29, a week after Allen popped the question. The couple shared a photo from the romantic sunset proposal where Allen asked Steinfeld to marry him in front of a rose-covered arch in Malibu.

“I’m so grateful that he did it the way he did so that I looked good, and we have these photos that we’ll have and cherish for the rest of our lives that I’m not looking at being like, ‘What was I wearing?'” Steinfeld told Who What Wear in February. “We were in Malibu, which is my happy place, and it was magical. That’s the word.”

Steinfeld and Allen were first linked in May 2023, before making their relationship Instagram official in July 2024. Weeks after their engagement, they made their red carpet debut as a couple on Feb. 6 as Steinfeld joined Allen at the NFL Honors where he won MVP.

After the ceremony, Steinfeld proudly posted a tribute to her fiancé, writing, “That’s MVP Josh Allen to you!” in the caption of her post.

Along with a wedding on the horizon, Steinfeld has much to look forward to career-wise: Her new supernatural horror film, Sinners, premieres April 18, and it marks her first major live-action role since 2018’s Bumblebee.

“There’s always the butterflies but so much excitement,” she tells PEOPLE. “I couldn’t think of a better project to come back to the big screen with. Also, this was my first film back from the strike. And we were all so hungry to get back to work. I just love being in this creative world with so many people that are just so passionate and so creative, and willing to do whatever it takes to create the most beautiful final product.”

She’s also been busy with her weekly Beau Society newsletters.

“Beau Society is this big umbrella for all these other ideas, and I like to consider myself very ambitious,” she says. “I think maybe this will be this sort of bridge into all these other things that fall under the umbrella, which I plan to venture into at some point. But I’m so enjoying using it as a space to connect with people on a deeper level. I always felt like I had that with music, and there’s nothing like a direct and personal connection to people that are going through the same things. I feel like my whole week will revolve around Friday’s issue. So it’s been a really fulfilling creative process for me.”
