Affleck said his ex-wife is an “enormously important, tremendous person [with] a lot of integrity who I adore”
Ben Affleck’s latest movie premiere was a blended family affair, and he took the opportunity to praise his ex-wife, Jennifer Lopez, too.
While speaking on the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of his new film The Accountant 2 on April 16, Affleck, 52, told Entertainment Tonight that he had not only been joined by his kids for the event, but his ex’s children, too.
“It’s a great night. The kids are here, Jen’s kids are here. I’m very, very excited,” Affleck told the outlet. “I’m proud of the movie, I love the movie and I love when all the kids come out. It’s really fun, it’s exciting.”
The actor shares Violet, 19, Seraphina, 16, and Samuel, 13, with his first wife, Jennifer Garner, while Lopez, 55, is mom to twins Max and Emme, 17, with her ex-husband, Marc Anthony.
ET co-host Nischelle Turner went on to comment that it was “really dope” that both Affleck and Lopez’s kids were in attendance and that he is “continuing those relationships.”
“Listen, I don’t read the stuff online much, and sometimes I get the sense that people perpetuate this idea of … they wanna find something negative to talk about,” Affleck agreed, before complimenting his ex.
“For the record, Jennifer Lopez is spectacular, great to my kids, great ongoing relationship with them,” the star explained. “I love her kids. They’re wonderful. She’s [an] enormously important, tremendous person of a lot of integrity who I adore and am grateful to.”
He continued, “I’m thrilled that the kids are here with me. The relationships that you can have with children like that, it’s the joy of my life. And those kids are amazing, and I’m glad that this is a movie they want to come to.”
Turner, 50, then told Affleck that he’s “a really good dad,” to which he replied, “I try my best, I certainly do.”
The actor’s comments about Lopez and her children come after he broke his silence about their breakup in a GQ interview last month.
He told the outlet that “there’s no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue” behind his split from the Unstoppable star.
“I guess there’s a tendency to look at breakups and want to identify root causes or something,” he told the publication. “But honestly, like I said, the truth is much more quotidian than probably people would believe or would be interesting.” He added that he had “nothing but respect,” for Lopez.
The pair tied the knot in July 2022 and Lopez filed for divorce just over two years later in August 2024. (They finalized their divorce in January and were officially declared single on Feb. 21.)
The Accountant 2 is due to be released on April 25.
