Super Bowl LIX was filled with unexpected moments — from Taylor Swift getting booed by the crowd to Kendrick Lamar’s headline-making halftime show — but one of the night’s most viral stories came after the game when President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to mock Swift.

Following his historic appearance as the first sitting U.S. president to attend a Super Bowl, Trump celebrated the warm reception he received at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans while taking a swipe at Swift, who was met with boos by those in attendance.

Trump Mocks Swift’s Booing on Truth Social

Late Sunday night, the 78-year-old POTUS wasted no time gloating about his positive reception at the game… as well as the crowd’s negative reaction when Swift appeared on the jumbotron.

President Trump posted on his social media platform Truth Social: “The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!”

Along with his post, Trump shared two videos — one showing himself being cheered at the game, and another capturing the moment Swift was booed when she appeared on the jumbotron.

He also reposted another post, which read: “Trump gets massive cheers at the Super Bowl while Taylor Swift gets booed – the world is healing.”

Trump vs. Swift: A Longstanding Feud

President Trump’s public jabs at Swift didn’t start at the Super Bowl. Just last September amid the campaign race, he bluntly declared his feelings on Truth Social, writing: “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!”

The outburst came after Swift endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election, posting a lengthy message on Instagram encouraging her followers to do their research and register to vote.

She did not mention Trump directly, but her endorsement of Harris was enough to set him off.

Swift’s political influence has been undeniable, with her past voter registration pushes causing massive spikes in new sign-ups, per the Daily Mail.

But her presence at NFL games has also sparked controversy, with some football fans criticizing how often she’s featured on broadcasts while cheering on her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.

Swift’s Reaction To The Boos

The 35-year-old pop superstar, who attended the game in New Orleans to support her boyfriend and Chiefs star Travis Kelce, was seated alongside her friend, rapper Ice Spice.

During the first quarter, Swift appeared on the jumbotron, eliciting boos from the crowd. Swift looked visibly shocked, and responded with a hilarious side-eye look, and a wry smile.

While the videos capturing the moment didn’t have any audio, lip reader NJ Hickling later analyzed the footage.

Speaking to The Mirror US, Hickling revealed that Swift asked, “What’s going on?” — seemingly caught off guard by the negative reaction.

Still, Swift is used to trolls and critics, so there’s no doubt this will just be one more moment in her career that she’ll “shake off”.

Super Bowl LIX Recap: Eagles Stun Chiefs

While the Swift-Trump saga stole headlines, the game itself delivered an explosive conclusion.

The Philadelphia Eagles crushed the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22, ending their hopes of becoming the first team to win three straight Super Bowls.

Philadelphia quarterback Jalen Hurts was named MVP, leading his team to victory and avenging their heartbreaking Super Bowl LVII loss to the Chiefs two years ago.

As the confetti fell and the Eagles celebrated, the conversation online remained just as heated. Trump’s victory lap over Swift’s booing has only intensified the debate, with his supporters celebrating and Swift’s fans firing back.

One thing is clear — Super Bowl LIX was as much about politics and pop culture as it was about football.
